Micras were offered with both petrol and diesel options, paired to either a five-speed manual or a CVT automatic.

Petrol

70bhp naturally aspirated 1.0-litre engine provides a 0-60mph time of 15.9 seconds, and is rated at 61mpg.
Turbocharged 1.0-litre engine supplies 91bhp, 99bhp or 115bhp.
Earlier models include a 1.2-litre engine with 78bhp and a 1.4-litre engine with 86bhp.

Diesel

1.5-litre motor produces 88bhp for a 0-60 mph time of 11.5 seconds and earning 68mpg.
Third-generation Micras included a 1.5-litre diesel engine supplying 64bhp, 80bhp or 84bhp.

Practicality

The Nissan Micra offers a good balance between interior space and agile handling.

Different generations of used Nissan Micra

First launched in the UK in 1983, the Micra quickly became a favourite with buyers. Its low running costs and charming appeal continued to excite through all five generations. The most recent generation was released in 2017, but Nissan stopped producing the Micra after the 2023 model year, to make room for an electric-only variant in the future.

Fifth Generation

The fifth-generation Micra was launched in 2017. It came as a five-door hatchback built from the Renault Clio platform. With its floating roof and sharp angles, it had a whole new appeal. More luxury was added to the top-tier levels, such as leather upholstery and an instrument cluster brought from the 370Z.

The 2020 refresh added new headlights to the exterior. The N-Sport also became available with 17-inch wheels, while the interior offered more customisation, including a vibrant orange colour.

Fourth Generation (2020 to 2022)

The fourth-generation Micra focused on new standard features that modernised the name and brought it up to date with the competition. It also came with more interior room than the third-generation Micra. Styling updates included bigger round headlights, a lower grille that resembled a smile, and a unique bump on the upper grille to mimic a nose.

A 2013 refresh focused mainly on the interior features – a new instrument cluster was added, and the speedometer was put at the forefront of the design. Satellite navigation was added to the top trim, so look out for those models on the used market.
