All models in the Zoe lineup have an electric powertrain with a single-speed transmission and front-wheel drive.

Electric

R135 electric motor outputs 134bhp for a 0-62mph time of 9.5 seconds, while the 52kWh battery pack supplies up to 239 miles of driving per charge.
With 50kW DC charging, the R135 can be charged to 80% in a little more than an hour.
R110 produces 107bhp with a 40kWh battery pack that offers a range of up to 186 miles per charge.

Practicality

The Renault Zoe is larger than it appears to be, and it offers a spacious environment for a small family.

Interior space

Adjustable steering wheel can help the driver get more comfortable.
Two shorter adults or three children can fit in the back seat.
Rear doors open wide enough to load child seats and secure them with the ISOFIX points.

Boot space

338-litre boot is larger than the MINI Electric and Honda e.
Folding down the rear seats provides up to 1,225 litres of boot space.
Load boot lip offers easier access to the cargo area.
Baggage hooks secure groceries, and there's a spot to hold charging cables below the boot floor.

Safety

While earlier models received a five-star Euro NCAP rating, the 2021 rating was zero stars.
Child occupant rating is highest at 52%.
Standard kit includes front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera and lane assist.

Technology

9.3-inch infotainment system became standard on newer models.
Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and a satnav system were also standard on the latest generation.

Different generations of used Renault Zoe

Renault released the innovative and fully electric Zoe in 2013. Quickly becoming the company's most successful EV model, the Zoe made it through two generations with major updates that ensured that it remained a popular choice. However, production ceased toward the end of 2023, with Renault shifting focus onto their E-TECH range.

Second Generation

The main styling changes for the second-generation Zoe included a new bonnet and redesigned front bumper. LED headlights were also provided with the standard kit. These changes meant the Zoe looked more modern in what was becoming a competitive segment.

Inside the cabin, Renault placed a 10.0-inch driver display front and centre to take over from the older analogue dials. The carmaker also improved the materials used in the interior, making them softer and more appealing. Finally, Renault revised the powertrain options, giving drivers more choices.

First Generation (2016 to 2019)

The Zoe was revealed to the world as early as 2009, but it was finally launched as a production model in 2013. The first models had flowing lines, with the EV based on the Clio platform, which had a taller and longer stance. A unique feature of the exterior lighting was the blue detailing, while the Renault badge was cleverly used to cover up the charging port.

Inside the cabin, the Zoe was equipped with a decent amount of boot space and some unique design features, such as the dashboard with a shape that resembled a wind turbine blade.
