There have been plenty of powertrain options with the A4 Avant, ranging from diesel to petrol engines, an automatic or a manual gearbox, and front- or four-wheel drive.
Petrol- 35 TFSI uses a 2.0-litre engine to generate 147bhp and claimed fuel economy of 42.8mpg
- 40 TFSI increases the output to 201bhp and still retains decent fuel economy of around 44mpg
- A 40 TFSI variant also produced a lower power of 187bhp but could reach 50mpg
- The 45 TFSI uses the same engine with better tuning to boost power to 241bhp, but the fuel economy falls to 35.3mpg
- Vorsprung edition raises the output to 261bhp and achieves a 5.5-second 0-60mph time
- 35 TDI generates 160bhp for the best fuel consumption - up to 52.3mpg
- 40 TDI increases the output to 201bhp and offers fuel economy of 47.1mpg
- Quattro 3.0-litre model boosts the power to 268bhp with fuel economy of up to 53mpg
