If you want a sneak peek at the world of fully electric cars, the Audi E-Tron is the car to buy. Apart from its electric powertrain, the E-Tron isn't easy to tell apart from other conventional Audi models. Its conservative design makes it a good choice for those who desire an electric car but don't want to attract attention. Used Audi E-Tron FAQs

  • Does the Audi E-Tron drive well?

Thanks to Audi's high-standard air suspension, the E-Tron is a comfortable drive and smoothly glides over surfaces that would feel bumpy riding in most other cars. It's heavier than the Tesla Model X, but the weight difference only slightly affects its agility. Thanks to its excellent grip and stability, you might not even notice the compromise.

  • Is the Audi E-Tron complicated to use?

It might be futuristic, but the E-Tron is simpler to use than many would expect from an electric car. The most complex feature is probably the thumb-operated gear-lever, but it will only take you a short time to get used to it. If you've driven a conventional Audi vehicle before, you won't have any problems using the selectable drive-mode system. There are 7 driving modes, ranging from the battery-saving but sluggish 'Efficient' mode to 'Off-road' mode for tackling rougher terrains. There is also the 'Dynamic mode', which might take some time to get used to because of its slightly intense throttle response.

  • What is the driving range of the Audi E-Tron?

The official driving range of the E-Tron is 195 miles for the 50 Quattro and 252 miles for the 55 Quattro power option. However, since most drivers stop and go while zipping through city traffic, the actual range will depend on the driving conditions. The special-edition 496 bhp E-Tron S power option has an official range of 223 miles.

  • Does the Audi E-Tron take a long time to charge?

The E-Tron offers 2 different battery options depending on the power output: 71 kWh and 95 kWh. It also comes standard with an 11 kW charger, but you can upgrade to a 22 kW. The E-Tron takes 90 minutes to charge from 0 to 80% at a 50 kW charging point and only 30 minutes when charging at a 150 kW point. There is also a Type 2 connector for AC charging at home and a CCS connector for rapid DC public charging.

  • Is the Audi E-Tron SUV a comfortable ride?

As long as you don't opt for an extra row of rear seats in the back, the Audi E-Tron SUV is a fairly spacious 5-seater. Drivers can enjoy several different seating positions and adjustable steering wheel options. Three taller adults can ride quite comfortably in the rear, but more so for shorter journeys.

  • How much boot space do you get with the Audi E-Tron?

The Audi E-Tron offers a decent 605-litre boot, which you can increase to 1,755 litres by folding down the rear seats. While space is less than what the category-leading Tesla Model X offers, it's still more than the 1,443 litres provided by its closest rival, the Peugeot I-Pace. It also beats out many conventionally powered alternatives, such as the Mercedes GLC and Audi Q5.

  • What safety features are available on the Audi E-Tron?

The Audi E-Tron received all 5 stars in the Euro NCAP 2018 crash test. The luxurious all-electric Audi SUV comes with an extensive list of safety features, including a raft of airbags, 360 all-around cameras, cruise control, a lane-departure warning system and a speed limiter.

About the Audi E-Tron

The Audi E-Tron is built on the Audi Q7's MLB Evo platform, but it has more futuristic extras. The E-Tron comes with an electric motor on each axle, but the motor on the rear axle is more powerful than the front. You can choose from 2 different power options: the 309 bhp E-Tron 50 Quattro and the 402 bhp E-Tron 55 Quattro. Both motors are quite punchy and offer impressively instant acceleration. The 50 Quattro motor takes 6.9 seconds to accelerate from 0-62 mph and can reach an electronically limited 118-mph top speed. If you go for the bigger 55 Quattro, the 0-62 mph acceleration time is reduced to 5.7 seconds, and the top speed increases to 124 mph.

What should you expect to find in an Audi E-Tron?

The Audi E-Tron is a 5-seater SUV that comes in 5 different trim levels: the Technik, Sport, S Line, Black Edition and Vorsprung. Some standard features you can expect to get with the entry-level Technik trim include:

  • 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment display
  • 20-inch alloy wheels
  • 360-degree cameras
  • Air suspension
  • Charging points on both sides
  • Heated electric leather seats
  • Keyless entry

The E-Tron Sport trim adds sports seats with Valcona leather upholstery, wireless phone charging, two USB ports for the rear seats and black glass buttons. The S Line trim adds to the Sport trim's kit:

  • 21-inch alloy wheels
  • Illuminated doors sills
  • Matrix LED headlights
  • Multi-function steering wheel
  • Privacy glass
  • Sports air suspension

The Black Edition gets all of the same features as the S Line trim but looks more aggressive with the additional black trimming. It also gets a flat-bottom steering wheel. The range-topping E-Tron Vorsprung trim gets everything the lower-level specs have, plus it adds 22-inch alloy wheels, a Bang & Olufsen stereo system and enhanced Matrix LED headlights.
