Used BMW 5 Series Estate cars for sale

BMW has been making the middle-sized luxury executive 5 Series range since 1972. That has given plenty of time for six different generations to come and go.

Since 1998's third incarnation, each generation of the 5 Series has been offered with the corresponding estate model. In BMW's marketing language, it calls its estates 'Touring' models.

These are premium vehicles, with the German characteristics of fine cabins using the best materials. Petrol choices include two 2L and two 3L units, with manual or automatic gearboxes. Whichever you choose, all BMWs are good to drive and pride themselves on performance. You'll find that despite being a spacious estate car, the handling is agile and sporty. The Touring models use self-levelling suspension to maintain ride and handling despite the load being carried.

The 5 Series is a large car so the Touring version is impressively spacious. Expect room for five plus all their luggage. With the rear seats folded down, the rear provides a large load bay. Electrically operated tailgates are an optional extra.

The 5 Touring is a well-equipped car. SE is the base level of kit but it's more than adequate for most owners.
