Engines and transmissions

There have been numerous options available with the Peugeot 508, including diesel, hybrid or petrol engines, automatic or manual gearboxes, and front-wheel or four-wheel drive.

Petrol

1.2-litre turbo three-cylinder generates 129bhp with an efficiency rating of up to 50mpg, depending on the variant.
PHEV Hybrid 225 combines a 1.6-litre petrol engine with an electric motor for a combined output of 221bhp, while the Hybrid 360 is rated at 350bhp, offering up to 40 miles of driving on electric only.

Peugeot released the 508 in 2011 as a replacement for the 407 and the larger 607. This executive saloon has been available in three bodystyles to make sure that it appeals to a wider market, including saloon, fastback (hatchback) and estate. Since its introduction, the 508 has been through two generations and several facelifts, ensuring that the model always has a high level of refinement.

Second Generation (2018 to Present)

The Peugeot 508 became even more impressive with the second generation, offering a sleek, premium style. With the frameless doors, it's more like a five-door coupé than a saloon. The vehicle's integrated bumper and headlamps help it to stand out among the competition.

In 2018, Peugeot released a 508 PSE with race-car inspired plug-in hybrid technology. Its LED strip daytime running lights cross over the front bumper and a special grey colour was offered exclusively for this model. By 2023, the entire lineup was ready for a refresh with a redesigned grille that showcased a 3D pattern and upgraded LED daytime running lights.

First Generation (2011 to 2018)

Peugeot wanted to replace its mid-size 407 saloon and executive 607 with a single car, so the company released the 508. Those who wanted the 407 were happy with the larger model and enthusiasts of the 607 enjoyed the enhanced materials and equipment of the 508, so it was a win-win situation. Many of the car's details made it look different from others in the segment, such as the broad trapezoidal grille and swept-back headlights.

In 2014, the 508 was restyled, but the exterior remained nearly identical. The changes came in the form of some modernised equipment and refined powertrain options. Even the interior retained much of its appearance, but the added equipment ensured a more practical experience.
