Over the years, the Peugeot 5008 has been available with diesel, petrol and hybrid engines. These have been paired with an automatic or manual transmission and front-wheel drive.

Interior spaceThe original 5008 launched in 2009 as a seven-seater people carrier with flexible seating and decent space for its compact size. The cabin was filled with advanced technology for the time, but with sales lower than expected, Peugeot knew it had to do something different. With the release of the second-gen 5008 in 2016, Peugeot changed the design to be more in line with crossover SUVs instead. Since that release, there have been further updates that ensure its technology appeals to today's drivers.
The big change with the second generation 5008 was the shift from being an MPV to a crossover SUV. As the bigger sibling of the 3008, styling looked similar on 5008 models, but the 5008 had a longer wheelbase, giving it more interior room with similar swept-back headlights.
A 2020 update occurred to provide standard LED headlights and a 3D grille design that resembled mesh. Side scoops were added for more airflow and LED taillights were installed in the rear.

Original models were family-friendly MPVs with room to hold seven people. The large windscreen gave optimal visibility, and the triangular headlights created a unique style. Its most unique styling aspect was the small bump in the rear, connecting with the taillights.
By 2013, the 5008 was ready for an update, and the company aimed to produce cleaner engines to meet the Euro 5b emissions standards. Other modifications included a brand-new grille design and some interior upgrades, such as an available heads-up display.

The diesel engines are the most popular among used Peugeot 5008 buyers due to their efficiency, with a top rating of around 60mpg. However, the hybrid is likely to gain popularity on the used market for drivers looking for heightened efficiency, as well as the newer E-5008 with its all-electric configuration.
The newest models come in Active Premium+, Allure Premium+ or GT trims. Of these three, the GT is the most popular with its larger infotainment touchscreen display, keyless entry, leather seating and electrically adjustable driver's seat with massage and memory.
The panoramic sunroof can offer a warm, light-filled cabin, while available Safety Plus Packs provide more equipment, such as lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, driver attention alert and blind spot detection.
With seven seats, the 5008 makes for a fantastic family car. The seats are spacious and supportive, plus there's decent boot space, especially with some of the seats folded down. Newer models are also filled with modern touches and high-tech equipment for increased enjoyment and protection.
The self-charging hybrid was recently released with a 1.2-litre petrol engine and an electric motor to create 134bhp. It provides an efficiency rating of up to 53.3mpg. There's also the new E-5008 with an electric-only configuration available.
Peugeot created the 5008 with either an automatic or manual gearbox. Among the used models, there's a fairly equal split between the two, making it easy to find either.
With the Peugeot 5008, all engines are paired with front-wheel drive. There was never a four-wheel drive model produced, but that's typical for this segment.
