Kia has offered many options with the XCeed, including petrol, diesel and hybrid powertrains. These have been paired to either a manual or an automatic transmission and standard front-wheel drive.

• 1.5-litre creates 158bhp and returns 47mpg, replacing the previously offered 138bhp 1.4-litre engine that achieved 46.3mpg.
• Older 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder produced 118bhp, with a fuel economy rating of around 47mpg.
• PHEV includes a 1.6-litre four-cylinder with an electric motor for a combined output of 139bhp and up to 35 miles of electric driving.

• While no longer available new, there's a 114bhp 1.6-litre mild-hybrid diesel that returns 52.3mpg.
• There was also a 134bhp 1.6-litre that had a fuel economy of 53.3mpg.

The XCeed can be a more practical option for families than the hatchback model that it is based on, with sufficient room for people and cargo.

• Ample head, leg and shoulder room available in the front seats.
• Rear legroom is suitable for adults under six feet tall, while children will fit comfortably.
• Wide-opening rear doors make it easy to load children and there are ISOFIX mounting points for child seat installation.

• 426-litre boot is larger than the Ceed hatchback, as well as the Ford Focus and Citroen C4.
• Back seats fold in two different sections, enabling the space to reach up to 1,378 litres.
• Height-adjustable boot floor can be lowered for maximum space or raised to reduce the load lip.

• While the XCeed hasn't been safety checked, the Ceed received a Euro NCAP rating of four out of five stars.
• Standard kit includes automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, driver attention monitoring and lane keep assist.

• 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system comes standard, with an available 10.25-inch unit.
• Apple CarPlay and Android Auto provide more connectivity.
• Available Bluetooth, DAB radio and satnav system enhance functionality.
