If you're in the market for a car that's stylish, spacious and efficient, then a used Volkswagen T-Cross is a great option. This SUV looks small from the outside, but it has a spacious interior and a large amount of boot space. The various engine options are efficient and peppy, making the T-Cross enjoyable to drive.
Volkswagen has built the T-Cross with petrol and diesel engines, a manual or an automatic gearbox and front-wheel drive.
Petrol1.6-litre TDI – the only diesel engine available – is rated at 93bhp and has the best efficiency of up to 54.3mpg.
The Volkswagen T-Cross may be a small SUV, but there is a large amount of space inside, making it a practical option for a busy family.
Interior spaceWhile Volkswagen offered both petrol and diesel engines with the T-Cross, the petrol models are the most popular due to their greater availability in a range of powertrains. In fact, it can be difficult to find a used T-Cross with a diesel motor.
Volkswagen currently has four T-Cross models: Life, Match, Style and R-Line. The R-Line continues to be the most popular variant, with the option for the higher-powered engine and extra features such as 18-inch alloy wheels, exterior and interior R-Line detailing, along with a 10.25-inch digital cockpit for the driver.
You can look out for the available IQ.Drive package, which includes a semi-automated driving assistance programme, while there's also a high-tech satnav system for finding new locations. The silver roof rails can add unique style and capability to the T-Cross.
The T-Cross is a smaller SUV designed for urban travel, yet there's plenty of room in the back seat for two adults and a child in the middle. The T-Cross also has a decent boot size that's customisable by moving the back seat forward slightly.
Volkswagen hasn't yet released a hybrid T-Cross, but there could be one in the future. For now, the hybrid technology is only offered with the Tiguan and Touareg SUVs.
Volkswagen has made the T-Cross with both an automatic and a manual gearbox. Both are equally popular in the used car market, so there should be no difficulty finding whichever one you prefer.
As a smaller SUV, Volkswagen has only equipped the T-Cross with front-wheel drive. In typical city driving situations, four-wheel drive won't be needed.
