If you're in the market for a car that's stylish, well-equipped and economical, then a used Alfa Romeo Giulietta is a great choice. This small family hatchback has a sleek appearance and can be found with a lively engine. The upmarket styling is also found in the interior, which offers a premium feel for all passengers.
Through its years of production, the Giulietta was available with a petrol or diesel engine, a manual or an automatic transmission, and front- or rear-wheel drive.

The Alfa Romeo Giulietta is one of the longer models in the segment. While this doesn't necessarily equate to more interior space, the hatchback is still practical enough for everyday use.

While the modern Giulietta only spanned one generation from 2010 until it was discontinued in 2020, the model originally existed during older generations that are now considered classics. Production began in 1954 and ran through 1984, giving the nameplate a 26-year break before reemerging. Among the latest generation, Alfa Romeo released several updates that kept the technology relevant and the cabin well-equipped.
In 2010 the Giulietta nameplate was brought back, just in time to replace the Alfa Romeo 147. From the exterior, the Giulietta differed from the rest of its compact class, with the Alfa Romeo emphasising styling. The rounded headlights were stretched out and the rear door handles were strategically hidden in the frames of the windows.
A 2016 update offered more design features from the larger Giulia models. The honeycomb grille looked very similar, along with the front bumper. Alfa Romeo also refreshed the logo and added darker headlights to make the hatchback look sportier.

The petrol engines were the most popular, with the 167bhp MultiAir offering the best efficiency rating of up to 57mpg. While the diesels are more efficient, they don't provide the same acceleration.
Alfa Romeo offered several model variants: Giulietta (base), Super, Tecnica, Speciale and Veloce. The Veloce was among the most popular with the highest-powered engine, sport pedals, a sport steering wheel, darkened windows and unique alloy wheels.
You should look out for enhanced tech features such as a larger 6.5-inch colour touchscreen display with satnav. Available front and rear parking sensors are also beneficial, helping the driver to get in and out of tight spaces.
The Giulietta offers a decent amount of space for the family. The boot space is also comparable to the Ford Focus, making it ideal for shopping trips.
Because the Giulietta was discontinued in 2020, Alfa Romeo hadn't released a hybrid variant. Until then, it was only offered with a petrol or diesel engine, but efficiency ratings topped the charts at up to 74.3mpg.
The Giulietta was available with an automatic or a manual gearbox, though the manual transmission is much more popular. You shouldn't have difficulty finding a used Giulietta with the gearbox you're looking for.
Alfa Romeo didn't release a four-wheel drive variant of the Giulietta. The modern Giulietta was only available with front-wheel drive, while the original design had a rear-wheel drive configuration.
