As one of the UK's most popular cars, the Qashqai has a stylish design that's easily recognisable. Its cabin is filled with technology and it's excellent value on the used market, with petrol, diesel and hybrid powertrains all readily available.
The Qashqai has been available with petrol, diesel and hybrid engines, a manual or an automatic gearbox, and front or four-wheel drive.

Interior spaceWhen the Nissan Qashqai first arrived in 2007, it changed the SUV market. As the "first" crossover, it was smaller than a typical SUV, with more efficiency and a unique style. Built in the UK, in Sunderland, Nissan has sold more than 5 million Qashqai models since its introduction, making it the most popular vehicle ever made in the UK. Now in its third generation, it's more up-to-date than ever, providing a fantastic mix of value and features.
For the third generation, Nissan made the Qashqai slightly larger again. New powertrains were offered, including mild hybrids, lowering emissions and running costs simultaneously. Nissan also released a new light signature that included LED daytime running lights and slimmer LEDs under them.
Updated technology was also added, including a larger 12.3-inch TFT instrument cluster and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Available features include the new 10.8-inch head-up display that projects relevant data onto the windscreen.

Nissan increased the size of the Qashqai during this generation to ensure maximum interior comfort. With available LED headlights, the Qashqai was competing against the premium segment, as most crossovers of its time didn't offer this equipment.
In 2017, Nissan upgraded the ProPilot safety equipment and added a new trim level to the top of the tier (Tekna+). A 2018 refresh changed some of the powertrain offerings, increasing the towing capacity to 2,000kg.

Nissan's goal when creating the Qashqai was to take a typical SUV design and make it more compact, affordable and agile. Even though it had a higher seating position, bigger wheels and a larger suspension than a car, it still provided the same ride quality. It instantly became a success.
In 2010, Nissan offered a slight facelift to add new front and rear lights and improved interior materials. Then, in 2011, some minor changes were made to the engine lineup.

The 1.3-litre petrol engines are the most popular, probably because the diesels weren't always available. Quickly moving up the ranks are the newer hybrid models, which have superior efficiency ratings.
Nissan currently builds the Qashqai in several trims: Visia, Acenta Premium, N-Connecta, Tekna and Tekna+. Among used models, the most popular trim has been the N-Connecta because it provides the perfect balance between value and equipment, with 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, heated wing mirrors, and an upgraded infotainment system and digital display.
Customers should look out for the panoramic sunroof, which allows more light into the cabin. There's also available sat nav or a head-up display. We also recommend looking out for the heated windscreen, heated seats and heated steering wheel.
As the UK's "first" crossover, the Qashqai is ideal for families. It provides enough space to hold five people and has a good amount of boot space for carrying cargo. Low running costs and a high up driving position complete the family car package.
Yes, there are a few different hybrid versions of the Qashqai. Mild hybrids can make up to 155bhp, with efficiency at up to 45.6mpg. There's also the 190 e-POWER self-charging hybrid model with an output of 187bhp and a fuel consumption rating of around 54mpg.
The Nissan Qashqai has been made with an automatic, known as the continuously variable transmission (CVT). There are plenty of these models available among used Qashqai options, but there are also manual gearboxes for drivers who prefer to have more control over gear shifts.
The majority of Nissan Qashqai models were made with front-wheel drive, which offers decent handling and efficiency. There were a few four-wheel drive models made, but they are more difficult to find among used cars.
