While Toyota has offered automatic and manual transmissions, along with diesel, hybrid and petrol engines, all models have included standard front-wheel drive.

Petrol

1.8-litre self-charging hybrid makes 138bhp for a 0-62mph time of 9.2 seconds.
2.0-litre self-charging hybrid increases the output to 193bhp with a 0-62mph time of 7.5 seconds.
Both modern engines return a fuel economy rating of up to 64.1mpg, while the 2.0-litre has CO2 emissions of 98g/km.
Earlier 1.2-litre engine produced 114bhp and achieved 58.2mpg, emitting around 116g/km of CO2.

Diesel

Older models have a variety of diesel models, including a 89bhp 1.4-litre with a 58mpg rating.
2.0-litre generates between 89bhp and 114bhp, offering a fuel economy rating ranging between 45mpg and 49mpg.

Practicality

The Toyota Corolla is a compact model that's practical for travel in urban environments and when space isn't a priority.

Interior space

Driver's positioning is adjustable with various materials available, including leather.
Rear seat is better suited for children or shorter adults.
ISOFIX points for installing child seats are easy to access in the rear seat.

Boot space
