338 Used Toyota Prius cars for sale

The Prius was first unveiled in 1995 and was available in the UK in 2000. Having just entered its fifth generation in the UK, Toyota continues to upgrade the style and function of the Prius, in particular its aerodynamic shape, to meet everyday driving demands.

Mk5 (2024-present)

In other parts of the world, the Prius was updated for a new generation back in 2022. However, due to an increased interest in hybrid SUV models, the UK variant was only revealed at the start of 2024. Increased sales of the C-HR halted the production of new Prius models in the UK. The only variant is a plug-in hybrid that creates a combined output of 220bhp. All sales of the self-charging hybrid have now moved to other countries.

Mk4 (2015-2022)

With the fourth generation, Toyota lowered the centre of gravity of the Prius thanks to a new mechanical platform. Additionally, a double-wishbone rear suspension increased the handling, stability and ride quality. With the new underpinnings, the interior space was increased and comfort was improved.

The powertrain was smaller and lighter, but this didn't affect the car's capability. CO2 emissions dropped and efficiency was boosted, making the Prius more popular than ever.

Mk3 (2009-2015)

The Hybrid Synergy Drive system was completely updated during this generation to improve efficiency and help with the car's environmental impact. The final product was lighter and smaller than before, while the engine size grew from 1.5 to 1.8 litres.

Toyota kept the basic styling of the second generation the same, but modernised it slightly. Interior trim pieces were constructed from recycled plastic that came from plant matter, showing that these materials could have a purpose in the automotive sector. During this generation, the Prius+ was also revealed, with seating for seven people.
