If you're in the market for a car that's electric-powered, well-equipped and affordable, then a used Renault Zoe is a great choice. As the company's most successful EV, the Zoe has a long electric driving range considering the low price. It's also extremely quiet to drive around town and is fitted with many of the latest car interior tech features.
All models in the Zoe lineup have an electric powertrain with a single-speed transmission and front-wheel drive.

Interior spaceRenault released the innovative and fully electric Zoe in 2013. Quickly becoming the company's most successful EV model, the Zoe made it through two generations with major updates that ensured that it remained a popular choice. However, production ceased toward the end of 2023, with Renault shifting focus onto their E-TECH range.
The main styling changes for the second-generation Zoe included a new bonnet and redesigned front bumper. LED headlights were also provided with the standard kit. These changes meant the Zoe looked more modern in what was becoming a competitive segment.
Inside the cabin, Renault placed a 10.0-inch driver display front and centre to take over from the older analogue dials. The carmaker also improved the materials used in the interior, making them softer and more appealing. Finally, Renault revised the powertrain options, giving drivers more choices.
The Zoe was revealed to the world as early as 2009, but it was finally launched as a production model in 2013. The first models had flowing lines, with the EV based on the Clio platform, which had a taller and longer stance. A unique feature of the exterior lighting was the blue detailing, while the Renault badge was cleverly used to cover up the charging port.
Inside the cabin, the Zoe was equipped with a decent amount of boot space and some unique design features, such as the dashboard with a shape that resembled a wind turbine blade.

The newer R135 electric motor was more popular than the older R110. This enhanced configuration outputs 134bhp to create a 0-62mph time of 9.5 seconds, with the 52kWh battery pack suppling up to 239 miles of driving per charge.
Throughout the production years, Renault offered the Zoe in several variants, including the Iconic, GT Line and Dynamique. Of these, the GT Line and Iconic are the most popular among used cars. Although the newer models come with a larger touchscreen and better safety equipment, the GT Line variants have proven to be the most popular, with features such as blind-spot monitoring, diamond-cut wheels, privacy rear windows and part-synthetic leather upholstery.
We recommend enhancing the safety systems with some previously available options such as lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, blind spot monitoring and automatic high-beam headlights.
Despite its smaller size, the Zoe has room for a family. The front seats are the most spacious, but the rear seats can easily hold three smaller children. The Zoe also has more boot space than the MINI Electric and Honda e.
The Renault Zoe was released in 2013. There was a new generation unveiled in 2019, but the Zoe was ultimately discontinued at the end of 2023 as the brand relaunches its fully electric cars range.
Because it's an electric car, the Zoe comes with a single-speed transmission. This configuration gives the Zoe instant access to torque for rapid acceleration.
To maximise efficiency, Renault only built the Zoe with a front-wheel drive configuration. This is a common setup with compact electric cars that are designed to offer a good value.
