If you want a car that's economical, attractive and comfortable, then a used Toyota Corolla is a great choice. The available hybrid powertrains are cheap to run, fun to drive and very reliable. With a well-equipped and pleasant cabin, the Corolla has proven to be an economical and stylish car that is great for everyday driving and commuting.
While Toyota has offered automatic and manual transmissions, along with diesel, hybrid and petrol engines, all models have included standard front-wheel drive.

Interior spaceThe Toyota Corolla nameplate has existed for 12 generations since 1966, making it one of the longest-surviving models. While the ninth generation was released in 2000, it was removed from the UK in 2006 and replaced with the Auris. However, Toyota decided to bring the Corolla back to our streets in 2019 and it's been available ever since.
For its return to the UK, the Corolla Hatchback grew in length by 40mm and had a longer wheelbase. In contrast, the height was reduced by 25mm and the cowl height came down another 47mm. These changes resulted in a sleeker style and lower bonnet to improve visibility and safety.
Toyota added a new upper grille with a narrow design and LED lamps with daytime running lights. The lower grille had a mesh design, while the overall design of the car was more angular and upright than before.

The Corolla is most often found with one of the self-charging petrol hybrid configurations that help the car to be as efficient as possible. There are some petrol models among used cars, but it can be difficult to find any with a diesel engine.
Currently, Toyota offers the Corolla in four variants: Icon, Design, GR Sport and Excel. The most popular among used models is the Icon Tech with upgraded technology to the base. It comes with 16-inch alloy wheels and the Toyota Safety Sense suite of equipment.
You can find upgraded wheel designs, including the 18-inch bi-tone alloy wheels. A head-up display and high-tech safety features are also available, including rear cross-traffic alert and blind spot monitoring.
The Corolla doesn't have as much rear seat room as some of its competitors, but it would still work for a family with smaller children. There are ISOFIX points in the back seat and several bodystyles to choose from.
All newer Corolla models include a self-charging hybrid configuration, either with a 1.8-litre or 2.0-litre petrol engine. The smaller option outputs 138bhp and the larger makes 193bhp, but both return about 64.1mpg.
The majority of Corolla models come equipped with an automatic transmission. There are also some manual options, but they are more difficult to find.
Toyota only made the Corolla with a front-wheel drive setup. Because the Corolla isn't designed for off-road adventures, most drivers find the front-wheel drive configuration sufficient.
