If you're in the market for a small hatchback that's practical, stylish and efficient, then a used SEAT Ibiza is a great choice. It's designed to stand out from the crowd and is enjoyable to drive, offering great handling. The entry-level models are cost-effective without sacrificing on modern features, and the boot is one of the largest in the supermini segment.
Currently, the SEAT Ibiza is only available with petrol engines, though diesel used to be offered. It also comes with a manual or an automatic gearbox and standard front-wheel drive.

Interior spaceThe SEAT Ibiza was first revealed as a Spanish supermini in 1984, when Volkswagen owned the company. The car has been through five generations and remains in production today. During the fourth generation, the Ibiza looked completely different from typical SEAT vehicles. It had lots of sharp edges on the outside, a design trait that was so successful, the brand's entire lineup adopted them. An estate model was also released, known as the Ibiza ST, giving drivers a larger boot space but still relatively compact exterior dimensions. During this time, an Ecomotive model was released that returned an average fuel economy figure of up to 80mpg.
With a 2012 facelift, SEAT brought some mild exterior updates and then restyled the Ibiza further in 2015, so this is why used examples will look slightly different. This second update included new powertrains, along with a new interior style with luxurious materials and an optional touchscreen display.

Despite so many variations available, the 1.0-litre petrol engine has been the most popular. It can be found with several different power outputs, designed to either be more efficient or provide faster acceleration. The slightly larger 1.2-litre engine is also popular among Ibiza drivers.
The new Ibiza lineup has six trims: SE, SE Technology, FR, FR Sport, XCELLENCE and XCELLENCE Lux. From a used standpoint, the FR has been the most popular, providing upgraded features such as cruise control, sports suspension and exclusive body detailing.
Customers should look out for 18-inch alloy wheels that make the Ibiza really stand out. There are also some metallic paint colours available. Inside the cabin, the larger 9.25-inch infotainment system and larger driver display are worth looking out for.
The Ibiza has more room inside than it appears. Four adults can fit comfortably with a child in the middle rear seat. There's also more boot space in the rear than with the VW Polo or Ford Fiesta.
SEAT hasn't made a hybrid Ibiza yet, but the company has been working on making an electric-powered lineup. The SEAT Leon has a hybrid configuration, but is a larger car.
Yes, SEAT has made both manual and automatic gearboxes with the Ibiza. It's much easier and often cheaper to buy a used Ibiza with a manual transmission, but there is a good selection available if you are set on an automatic.
No, all SEAT Ibizas come standard with front-wheel drive. As a smaller vehicle, the Ibiza doesn't benefit from having a four-wheel drive. For regular city driving and motorway navigation, front-wheel drive provides superior handling while keeping the efficiency as high as possible.
