If you're in the market for a car that's stylish, comfortable and highly refined, then a used BMW Z4 is a great choice. With its sleek appearance and impressive performance, the Z4 is a premium sports car through and through. Its high-tech cabin adds to the desirability, while numerous configurations allow every driver to find the model that suits them.
All Z4s have a petrol engine and rear-wheel drive, but there's the option between a manual and an automatic transmission.
PetrolAlthough it is a two-seater convertible, the BMW Z4 makes good use of its space and offers a high-tech environment.
Interior spaceThe BMW Z4 replaced the ageing Z3 in 2003, offering a similar two-seat roadster design. By 2006, there was also a coupé variant, and an 'M' variant was added to the lineup. Now in its third generation, the Z4 was originally going to be retired in 2018, but in came back in fine form as a relation to the brand-new Toyota Supra.
Instead of being discontinued as originally planned, the Z4 entered a new generation in 2018. With these new models, the retractable hard top was no longer offered. Instead, the only bodystyle remaining was the roadster. BMW also shortened the wheelbase to make it more agile, even though the overall size is slightly larger.
Some updates were made in 2024, including a new manual gearbox option. There are rumours of these being the final years of production as the Z4 finally sees retirement.

This Z4 had a number of design elements from other BMW models, such as the headlights from the 3 Series and the rear-end styling from the 6 Series. Yet this roadster had a low, wide stance and a short deck lid that made it a clear sports car. Visibility was also enhanced from the front and side, offering a safer driving experience.
In 2013, a refresh was released, known as the LCI Z4. Some aesthetic changes included the new LED headlight bulbs, while the engine options were updated to follow Euro 6 emission standards.

The two most popular are the base sDrive18i and sDrive20i because they were the lowest cost to buy and cheapest to run. However, the M models with the higher-powered engine are also popular among sports car enthusiasts.
