This SUV has the interior space and tech features that every family needs. Interior spaceThe Suzuki Vitara first debuted in 1988 as a 4x4 SUV, designed with off-roading in mind. Since then, the company has taken it through five generations to become the family-friendly SUV that people are familiar with today. Suzuki continues to ensure that it provides good value for drivers without sacrificing valuable technology and equipment.
The Vitara continues to exceed drivers' expectations with excellent capability and high-tech equipment. While there were a lot of upgrades for the new generation, Suzuki continues to keep the price down.
Having sold nearly four million Vitaras worldwide, Suzuki knows that there aren't a lot of changes needed to keep the SUV popular. Still, the company has focused on creating more efficient hybrid powertrains for the upcoming models.
The fourth generation arrived just after the Vitara became 25 years old and it was time for an all-new design. Suzuki added more advanced technology, some upgrades designed for efficiency and engines with better performance. Select models also included ALLGRIP SELECT 4x4 to give the SUV more capability.
A 2018 update made the Vitara look slightly smaller by making some aesthetic changes. The bumper remained the same but six tilting slats were added at the front to replace the dual horizontal pair. It also received new fog lights for a fresh appearance.

Petrol engines have been the most popular, as these have been the most produced models. Hybrid variants are gaining popularity, and diesel engines can be hard to find.
Newer models come in two variants: SZ-T and SZ5. The SZ-T tends to be the most popular, and at one point, was not the base model, so they are normally well-equipped. Depending on the model year, it may be possible to find a DAB digital radio, rear parking camera, satnav system and 17-inch alloy wheels included.
You should be on the lookout for a panoramic sunroof, allowing for more natural light into the cabin. Keyless entry has also been a top choice, adding convenience to the Vitara.
The Vitara is not a large SUV but is considered practical and affordable for a growing family. The rear seats are comfortable and there's enough boot space to take a family holiday.
While Suzuki hasn't yet released a plug-in hybrid version of the Vitara, mild hybrid and self-charging hybrid models are available and can achieve efficiency ratings of around 54mpg.
Suzuki did make an automatic transmission available with some Vitara models. However, the manual gearbox has been the more popular option, helping to keep the price down.
Suzuki is known for its off-road capability, so four-wheel drive is available. Many of the used Vitara models have front-wheel drive, which is expected in an SUV of this size.
