The modern Scirocco is brilliant looking, with a unique angular body style that makes it stand out from more traditional looking coupes. Of course, it's all well and good to look the part, what matters is whether it can perform. Thankfully, it can. The Scirocco is available in 3 powerful engine options, with the 220 bhp turbocharged variant giving you a 0-62 mph speed in 6.3 seconds. Not too shabby.
The Scirocco is available in 5 trim levels - the standard trim, the GT, the R-Line, the GTS, and the R. It's worth noting that you'll have your choice of engines on these trims, except with the sporty GTS and R. These are Volkswagen's performance Sciroccos. As such, they each have a unique engine. There are plenty of additional tech and feature packs available, so you might find some somewhat unique Sciroccos on the used car marketplace. If you're on a budget though, don't worry, as even the entry-level Standard Scirocco trim has plenty of features to keep most drivers happy.
Coupes tend to be all about style, and the Scirocco is no different. Perhaps its biggest appeal is its slick body style and classy interior - not to mention how much fun it is to drive. However, it's also got plenty of tech that was (at the time) class-leading. VW has implemented it in a subtle and natural way that doesn't distract from the driving experience. Naturally, you'll have to pay quite a bit more to get the best features. Still, as the car is only available from used, you might be able to pick up a top-spec Scirocco for a reasonable price.
As a body style, coupes often fall into the trap of looking a bit old-fashioned - appealing more to middle-aged business people. Volkswagen recognised this and designed the Scirocco to have a youthful and fun aesthetic, while still being mature enough to rock up to a business meeting in. Inside, the Scirocco is quintessentially Volkswagen - high-quality materials, great tech, and classy design choices. The cabin is excellent, and the low suspension keeps you close to the road, accentuating the exceptional handling and sharp acceleration of the Scirocco's engines. Remember, you can only buy the Scirocco from used, as it's no longer being manufactured by VW. This has its upsides, as you'll be able to find a Scirocco at a much lower price than if you purchased it from new.

As a coupe, it's forgivable that the Scirocco isn't really a great family car. The rear-seats are somewhat cramped and the boot space is average at best. However, if you have only 1 child, you might be okay with this coupe. Interior space is less than in a Volkswagen Golf though, so if you have a larger family, you're best looking elsewhere.
Volkswagen typically packs its cars full of the latest and best safety features. The Scirocco was no different, and it scored the full 5 out of 5 stars on the industry-standard Euro NCAP safety test.
No, the Volkswagen Scirocco isn't available as an electric or hybrid car.
