History of Hendy Group

As one of the longest running dealers in the UK, the Hendy Group has over 100 years of experience in the automotive retail industry. Founded by Frederick Adolphus Hendy, the company began life in 1859 as a bicycle shop in Whitchurch. By the end of the 19th century, Frederick was selling cars, too. He was amongst the first people in Britain to own a Benz.

In 1910, Frederick’s son, Percy Hendy, brokered a deal with Ford Motor Company making Hendy the first official Ford dealer in Great Britain. From there on, Hendy has continued to develop and grow as a leading automotive retailer.
