The original Fiat Multipla is one of the strangest, weirdest, most uniquely designed MPVs ever to hit British roads. It looks like its been driven into a large cheese slicer that has taken a massive chunk out of the bonnet, but despite this it's a fantastically practical car that's ideal for families and relishes being driven. Disregarding the eyebrow raises and smirks of passes by, the Fiat is a great option that drives well.
Released in 1998, there have been several upgrades over the years, with more modern versions ditching the almost iconic design that got the Multipla noticed in the first place. While some may think this is a godsend, it's actually quite a shame. Production ceased on the quirky 5 door people carrier in 2010, but the motoring industry was arguably better for having it.
Yes, the first generation was certainly eye catching on the outside, but it's almost like designers lost their bottle and went for a safer option with later models. One thing is for sure though, each one looks funky and has a lot of personality. The inside of pretty much all Multiplas is spacious, well designed and very comfortable. There's enough room for 6 seats and a massive boot to play with. Big windows give great all around visibility, and that makes it quite easy to park.
you'd expect a Fiat car to handle well thanks to its Italian heritage, and the Multipla doesn't disappoint. it's easy to drive and the ride is comfortable, but don't expect it to have break neck speed because it doesn't. The engines are more economy oriented, but it can cruise along motorways quite nicely.
With so many used cars for sale at Motors.co.uk, the chances of coming face to face with a quality second hand Fiat Multipla are very good indeed. Serious price discounts coupled with the fact it's no longer in production mean you can find some genuinely good deals. Why pay full price for a brand new MPV when you can get a excellent bargain from a few years back that's all but the same?
Clearly then, while the original Fiat Multipla is strange to look at, it's actually a very good car and is perfect for large families who are looking for great value for money. Practical, reliable and safe, it has all the characteristics you'd want from an MPV. For something a bit different, it's a fantastic choice.
