Petrol- 4xe Plug-In Hybrid creates a combined 236bhp for a 7.3-second 0-62mph time and electric driving of up to 34 miles per charge.
- e-Hybrid uses a 1.5-litre engine to produce 128bhp and return a 0-62mph time of 10.0 seconds with a rating of 49.6mpg and CO2 emissions of 128g/km.
- Older 1.3-litre outputs 128bhp, or a 1.4-litre generates 138bhp or 168bhp (depending on the configuration), but efficiency is lower at up to 40mpg.
- 1.6-litre generates 118bhp for a 10.8-second 0-62mph time and returns 43.5mpg with CO2 emissions of 157g/km.
- 2.0-litre diesel generates 138bhp or 168bhp and was available with Trailhawk models for a 9.3-second 0-62mph time, with the less powerful having a rating of around 42mpg and the most powerful having a rating of up to around 38mpg.
Practicality
The Compass is a compact model, but it is spacious enough for a family and offers a good amount of comfort features.
Interior space- Front seats offer a decent amount of headroom and legroom.
- Adults can fit in the back, but it can be a struggle for taller people with the available panoramic glass roof.
- ISOFIX mounting points for child seats are easy to access through the accommodating rear doors.
- 438-litre boot is larger than the Vauxhall Astra and the space isn't diminished by the hybrid configuration.
- 60:40 or 40:20:40 split rear seats allow for a larger boot space.
- Adjustable boot floor allows for removal of the load lip or more cargo space.
Safety
- 2017 Euro NCAP testing gave the Compass a perfect five-star rating.
- Adult occupant rating was 90%, with child occupant close behind at 83%.
- Standard safety kit includes rain sensing wipers, active emergency braking, lane departure warning, cruise control, a driver drowsiness monitor, speed limiter and traffic sign recognition.

Second Generation (2017 to Present)
For the release of the second generation, Jeep was working in partnership with Fiat. The manufacturer decided that it was time to simplify the lineup, but added the off-road-oriented Trailhawk variant with higher ground clearance and cleverly placed skid plates.
The first update for the generation occurred in 2019, with new air intakes in the lower bumper for better cooling. It was also given a more striking appearance. In 2021, another refresh was released with some significant changes to the powertrain, including a plug-in hybrid configuration and some mild styling upgrades.

First Generation (2007 to 2015)
Jeep wanted to appeal to a broader market beyond those looking to have off-road adventures. The obvious solution was to create a crossover that could hold a family but didn't sacrifice capability. Jeep therefore released the Compass, which was a smaller version of the popular Jeep Cherokee.
A mild refresh arrived in 2011 with some styling upgrades and improved drivetrain options. Getting rid of the previously offered round headlights, the new Compass had the lamps with a horizontal design, similar to the Grand Cherokee. In some models, there was also chromed trim available for the seven-slat grille.
