Used Kia Picanto information

Engines and transmissions

Today's Picanto only comes with one petrol engine option, though used models have more variety. It pairs with a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The Picanto has never been available with a diesel engine in the UK.

Petrol
  • 66bhp created by a 1.0-litre engine is ideal for urban travel.
  • Combined fuel economy up to 55.4 mpg.
  • Fastest 0-60 mph time is 14 seconds.

Practicality

The Picanto can be outfitted with seating to hold four or five people, with an expandable boot for more storage.

Interior space
  • Front seats are supportive, ideal for making longer journeys.
  • Rear seats offer minimal space, reserved for smaller adults or children.
  • ISOFIX points are buried in rear seats for hooking up a child seat.
Boot space
  • 255-litre boot is more than the Volkswagen UP! and Hyundai i10.
  • Folding-down rear seats increase space to 1,010 litres.
  • Available adjustable load floor secures valuables and reduces the need to lift heavy cargo.
Bodystyles
  • Three-door hatchback offers four seats.
  • Five-door hatchback is also available, with the X-line S range offering five seats.

Safety

  • Euro NCAP rating was three stars, which is in line with most other city cars.
  • Adult occupant rating hits 79%.
  • Standard side and curtain airbags.

Technology

  • Standard Bluetooth and USB ports provide instant connection.
  • Available 8.0-inch colour touchscreen in the GT line looks massive in the small cabin.
  • Available Apple CarPlay and Android Auto work with today's smartphones.

Kia Picanto generations

Since the very first model in 2004, Kia has supplied a Picanto that balances value and practicality. Through three generations, every update and refresh has brought newer technologies and better efficiency, with a focus on comfort and style. The top-spec trims allow drivers to experience more luxury and gadgets without losing any of the practicality or value for money.

Third Generation (2020 to Present)

Kia revealed the third-generation Picanto in 2017. Sharing the platform with the Hyundai i10, Picanto models came with a slightly longer wheelbase. This extended wheelbase led to more interior space, most notably in the back seat.

A design refresh took place in 2020, with the front bumper earning an update that improved the appearance. The interior received some upgrades that helped the 8-inch infotainment system and 4.2-inch digital display stand out. In 2023, the Picanto received a second refresh that included more technology, such as a digital instrument cluster. Kia also revealed a new design, with the LED light strip moving from one end to the other, connecting the headlights together.

Second Generation (2011 to 2020)

The Picanto was available as either a three- or five-door hatchback. The smaller version was deemed more desirable for those who don't require a back seat or easy access to the rear. It was an instant success for delivery companies, which enjoyed the fuel efficiency and modern style.

A 2015 facelift helped the vehicle comply with the Euro 6 emissions regulations. Both bodystyles also earned new technology to keep it up to date.
