Engines and transmissions

Vauxhall has provided many options with the Mokka, including petrol and diesel engines, an automatic or a manual gearbox, and front- or four-wheel drive.

Petrol
  • 1.6i generates 113bhp and has a 0-60mph time of 11.4 seconds.
  • 1.4i Turbo has two outputs, either 138bhp or 150bhp, with a 0-60mph time as fast as 9.1 seconds, and offers a fuel economy range between 34mpg and 43mpg.
  • Lower-powered 1.4i Turbo is the most efficient petrol engine, with a rating of 47mpg.
Diesel
  • 1.6 CDTi ecoFLEX outputs either 108bhp or 134bhp, with a 0-6mph time as low as 9.9 seconds.
  • Fuel economy averages range from 72mpg (108bhp) to 68mpg (134bhp).

Practicality

The Vauxhall Mokka X is an affordable and practical compact SUV with more space than it appears to have, perfect for a growing family.

Interior space
  • Driver's seat offers a superior view of the motorway, with the ability to hold a tall adult.
  • Rear headroom is generous, allowing adults to fit comfortably.
  • Tall rear doors offer easy access to ISOFIX mounting points for child seats.
Boot space
  • 356-litre boot doesn't have a large lip, so there's not much effort needed to load heavy items.
  • 60:40 split rear seats open up to 1,371 litres of space, which is more than the Renault Captur.

Safety

  • Mokka X hasn't been safety tested, but the previous Mokka (2012) received a five-star Euro NCAP rating.
  • Standard kit may include a selection of airbags, traction control and hill start assist.

Technology

  • 7.0-inch touchscreen was standard, with an available 8.0-inch upgrade.
  • Smartphone mirroring occurs through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for music streaming or using the phone's navigation apps.
  • Satnav was available with higher-spec models for integrated directions with the touchscreen.

Lexus CT generations

In 2011, Lexus introduced the CT as its first hatchback. Sharing a platform with the Toyota Prius, the CT was designed to be a premium version of Toyota's popular hybrid. During the first full year of production, there were nearly as many CT models sold in the UK as Toyota Prius models, proving that it was a hit with British buyers. However, Lexus discontinued production in 2020 during the model's first generation, with no direct replacement named.

Used Lexus CT FAQ's

Which is the most popular engine in the Lexus CT?

The Lexus CT was only available with one powertrain option. It used a 1.8-litre petrol engine combined with an electric motor to create a combined 134bhp. This power results in a 0-60mph time of 10.1 seconds and a top speed of 112mph.

Which are the most popular model variants?

Lexus offered the CT with these model options: S, Sport, Executive Edition, Advance, Luxury, Sport Plus, F Sport and Premier. The Advance has been one of the most popular variants among used cars, with keyless entry, front and rear parking sensors, the fabric upholstery from the base model, and privacy glass.

What optional extras should I look out for?

Customers should look out for the various premium features available that add more luxury, such as heated front seats, a sunroof, full leather interior and LED headlights. Customers should also look for tech features such as an available navigation system, a 13-speaker Mark Levinson sound system and a reversing camera.

Is the Lexus CT a good family car?

The CT has been an excellent choice for families and fleets because of its spacious interior and superior fuel economy rating. There's also a decent amount of boot space with a flat floor and no load lip for hauling luggage or groceries.

Is there a hybrid version of the Lexus CT?

The CT was only built as a self-charging hybrid model. The 1.8-litre petrol engine and electric motor combine to create a rating of up to 78.5mpg. Additionally, CO2 emissions are as low as 87g/km, rivalling some of today's hybrids.

Is the Lexus CT available as an automatic?

Because of the hybrid powertrain, all CT models come with an automatic transmission. Lexus uses a continuously variable transmission (CVT) that's meant to reduce the hard shifting feeling common with many automatics.

Is there a four-wheel drive version available?

Lexus only built the CT with a front-wheel drive configuration. However, drivers have been pleased with the handling, especially with the traction and stability control offered with the standard kit.
