Engines and transmissions

There have been four engines to choose from during the life of the RCZ, all with front-wheel drive, along with manual or automatic gearboxes.

Petrol

• 1.6 THP 156 creates 153bhp and has a combined rating of up to 44.1mpg.
• 1.6 THP 200 was the quickest variant until 2013 with a 7.4-second 0-60mph time.
• RCZ R was introduced in 2013 with a 5.7-second 0-60mph time and a top speed of 155mph because of the 266bhp 1.6-litre engine.

Diesel

• 2.0 HDi produces 160bhp, giving it a 0-60mph time of 8.4 seconds.
• Maximum efficiency rating of 54mpg.

Practicality

Despite being a smaller sports car, the RCZ is considered to be practical and offers more space than it appears to have.

Interior space

• Driver's seat is simple to adjust.
• Rear seats are smaller and not designed for tall adults.
• RCZ R models have sports seats with red stitching.

Boot space

• 384-litre boot is larger than it appears.
• Folding rear seat makes room for more cargo.
• Door bins are available for smaller items.
• Rear ISOFIX points secure child seats.

Generations

Peugeot released the RCZ in 2010 and surprised the automotive world with this stylish but sensible sports car. It was the first model from the company that didn't have a '0' in its name, showing that it wasn't related to the other vehicles, though the front design did look similar to that of the contemporary 308. In 2013, Peugeot released a refresh to meet the Euro 6 emissions standards and to offer a modern design. However, the RCZ didn't see a second generation as it was discontinued in 2015.
