As the first fully electric vehicle from Polestar, the Polestar 2 offers a great alternative to other premium electric models such as the Telsa Model 3. Depending on the model you choose, the Polestar 2 provides a great amount of range, with the dual-motor model capable of travelling just over 400 miles on a single charge. Along with its impressive range, its superb build quality and sleek design make the Polestar 2 a strong contender in the premium EV space.
Frequently compared to the likes of Tesla, Hyundai and BMW, there’s no doubt that Polestar is a key player in the luxury electric car market. They claim that they are at the forefront in the age of ‘quiet luxury’, as they hope to redefine what is thought of as ‘premium’ and ‘luxurious’. Polestar has stated that they place a focus on minimalism by ‘removing everything unnecessary and perfecting what’s left’ and this is demonstrated through their minimalist design, sleek styling and innovative technology.
The standard range car that utilises a single motor can reach up to 321 on a full charge. While the long-range model can reach a distance of 406 miles.
The cost of charging a Polestar 2 car will depend on several factors including the type of charger used, the car model and where the car is being charged. For home charging, the price per kWh has been estimated to be around 0.27p, whereas fast charging equates to around 0.55p per kWh. If you choose to use a rapid or ultra-rapid charger, this could set you back 0.79p per kWh.
Until 2025, owners of the Polestar 2 are not required to pay road tax.
The entry-level Polestar.2 model is within the insurance group 40 which increases to insurance group 44 if you have the long-range model.
