The Porsche Boxster S is a sportier version of the original car that takes the excellence to a whole new level. A larger engine, improved designs and tauter handling means it's a real step up, and closer still to a 911. Excellent for those individuals who want to set themselves apart from the 'masses', there's no question that this car is tremendous.
Introduced in 2000, the original Boxster S featured a 3.2 litre 266 horsepower engine, but this was upgraded to a beefier 3.4 in 2007. You can certainly distinguish it from the regular version because it's thunderously fast and sportier overall due to a lighter weight. Some new engineering features such as a PDK double clutch transmission and iPod connection makes all the difference.
Style wise, the S looks fantastic with a front end akin to a Carrera GT and a more aggressive persona, however on the whole it's very similar to the original. Wonderful curves and angles can be found all over its body, and it's just a pleasure to feast your eyes upon. The interior is also pretty much the same, which isn't a bad thing because the normal Boxster is beautiful inside. High quality materials, an intuitive design and masses of comfort mean any length of journey is a great experience, especially in summer with the roof down.
In terms of the driving experience, the larger engine means it's not only faster but sounds more animalistic too; a distinct gurgle can be heard now, and getting up to speed is just amazing. The 3.4 litre engine generates 291 horsepower, has a 0 to 60 mph time of 5.3 seconds and can reach a top speed of 170 mph. Basically it's fast and furious when you stick the boot in, but is also a wonderful cruiser at regular speeds.

Not only will you pay significantly less than normal brand new prices, but quality is superb and more often than not you'll be able to drive away on the day. it's the perfect situation for any serious buyer.
Clearly then, the Boxster S is pretty much the same as the regular one, but just offers more power, a sportier setup and a better sounding engine. There are loads of boring but clever engineering differences that make it better overall, and exclusivity is another plus point. If you want a fantastic roadster, there's not much out there to better this.
