Used SEAT Arona information

Powertrains

There's a straightforward range of engines to consider when searching for a used SEAT Arona, each with its own benefits to cater for differing lifestyles. The most common include:

  • 1.0-litre petrol: up to 110bhp, 0 to 60mph in as little as 9.8 seconds, up to 56.5mpg WLTP combined.
  • 1.5-litre petrol: 148bhp, 0 to 60mph in as little as 8.2 seconds, up to 48.7mpg WLTP combined.
  • 1.6-litre diesel: up to 113bhp, 0 to 60mph in as little as 10.3 seconds, up to 65.7mpg WLTP combined.

Those who complete most of their driving in and around urban areas will find either of the petrol engines appealing - the 1.5-litre offers more poke, but 1.0-litre variants are competent performers in their own right. Used examples with a diesel powertrain are a good choice if you regularly complete longer journeys on motorways. There's no hybrid variant available, and all Arona models come equipped with front-wheel drive only.

Practicality

While compact in size, the SEAT Arona is still a practical vehicle. There's plenty of interior space with generous amounts of head and legroom in both the front and rear. Four adults will ride in comfort but it may be a little tight in the rear if travelling with five adults - three children in the rear is no issue, though.

In terms of boot space, the Arona offers a respectable 400-litre space which puts it ahead of rivals such as the Dacia Sandero Stepway (328 litres) but slightly behind the likes of the Citroen C3 Aircross (410 litres). This means you can expect to fit around three average-sized suitcases in the Arona. If you do need the additional space, then you're able to drop the rear seats to access a larger space.

Many small SUVs struggle to tow, but the SEAT Arona breaks the mould and is rated to tow a braked load of up to 1,200kg. This makes it suitable to tow trailers and light caravans, but if you plan on towing a larger caravan, we'd recommend considering a larger vehicle such as the SEAT Tarraco.

Safety

The SEAT Arona proves to be a very safe vehicle having achieved a full five-star safety rating in the rigorous Euro NCAP safety test. This comes as no surprise though, considering it's based on the same platform as other Volkswagen Group vehicles such as the Skoda Kamiq and Volkswagen T-Cross.

In terms of safety equipment, the Arona is well-equipped as standard, featuring ISOFIX mounting points, tiredness recognition, an anti-lock braking system (ABS) and hill hold control. Opting for a higher specification can see you benefit from further active/passive safety features such as blind spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control and parking sensors.

Technology

SEAT's vehicles tend to be rife in technology, even with their entry-level trims, and the Arona is no different. The Arona range starts with the 'SE' trim and ends with the range-topping 'XCELLENCE Lux'.

Standard equipment is plentiful and includes features such as LED daytime running lights, 17-inch alloy wheels, a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system and Bluetooth® connectivity. As you work your way up the range, technology gradually improves to include the likes of a Connectivity Pack Plus which features satellite navigation and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. If you're after a sportier setup, used 'FR' and 'FR Sport' variants will appeal, while 'XCELLENCE' variants and beyond offer a more refined, luxury approach.

When searching for a used SEAT Arona be mindful that the mid-life facelift in 2021 brought some changes to its equipment list, so be sure that any vehicle you're considering has everything you expect.

SEAT Arona generations

The Arona is still in its first generation having established itself as a popular model within the small crossover SUV market. Introduced in 2017, it joined the likes of the Ateca SUV and Leon hatchback as part of SEAT's lineup to cater for the ever-evolving needs of families and individuals alike. Due to this popularity, there are a plethora of fantastic used Arona examples available on the used market.

In 2021, the Arona underwent a minor facelift which brought about changes to its engine lineup, available technology and overall styling.
