The British-built V8 Aston Martin Vantage is a supercar of choice for those who need an elegant and hand-built luxury 2-seater Grand Tourer. The Vantage has been on the market since 2005 and still offers sector-leading performance and driving experience. Aston Martin introduced the V8 Vantage as its entry-level model, but it became the most popular badge for the automaker. On it, the British firm rose back to its feet, thanks to its appealing look and performance that made it a formidable rival to category leaders such as the Porsche 911. Over the years, the car underwent several performance upgrades while maintaining the same appearance. In 2018, the Vantage came with a thunderous 4.7-litre V8 engine that gets it from 0-62 mph in 4.9 seconds, reaching a top speed of 175 mph. As expected, the versions that came after 2018 are faster, accelerating to 62 mph from a standstill in 3.6 seconds.

In its debut launch, the Aston Martin V8 Vantage came with a 4.3-litre V8 engine. An identical roadster followed in 2006 before the more powerful yet efficient 4.7-litre model came in 2008. In mid-2009, the carmaker introduced a V12 150 bhp option before reintroducing a refined 430 bhp 4.7-litre V8 in 2011. Other engine options that graced the line-up are the 400bhp 4.3-litre and 420 bhp 4.7-litre units that came in the N400 and N420, respectively.
At the tail end of 2018, Aston Martin reintroduced the Vantage but with a downsized yet veraciously powerfully 4.0-litre V8 engine. The engine produces a torque of 510 bhp and can get the Vantage to 62 mph from rest in 3.4 seconds and to a top speed of 195 mph.
If you want the latest version of the Vantage, then the decision is partly made. In the pre-2018 versions, the 4.3-litre model is more popular as it delivers mid-range torque, hence more economical. However, regardless of the engine choice, ensure you buy a Vantage faithfully maintained by reputable Aston Martin specialists.
Due to its high performance and the skills required to service it, the V8 Vantage is not a ride for anyone who seeks to keep the running costs low. With a CO2 emission of 358 g/km, the past generation Vantage's eco-score is almost zero, attracting high road tax. Fuel economy is not any better, averaging to a meagre 16 mpg during cautious driving.
Due to its limited production, the Vantage has never been crash-tested by . However, the Vantage's previous generation came with top-notch safety features, including powerful brakes linked to the autonomous braking system and Electronic Braking Distribution to stop the car in the shortest time possible.
