Used BMW X1

If ever you needed proof that good things do come in small sizes, just take a look at the BMW X1. This compact SUV has all the characteristics of a bigger car but is considerably smaller in nature. It still packs a punch however and there’s no doubting the excellence of the legendary German marque as it’s so obvious in every instance.

The X1 has been around since 2009 but has become a dominating presence in the compact luxury crossover market. As you’d expect from BMW, everything is super high quality, from the flashy exterior to the superb finish of the interior and good amount of kit. But let’s get one fundamental flaw out of the way to start with- the X1 is poor off road. It really isn’t built for venturing into the wild, so think of it more as a taller estate car than a 4x4.

Despite this, it looks great and is incredibly comfortable inside as BMW never sacrifices its high standards. With a lot of room and headspace in particular, there’s a decent sized boot and it’s very practical in nature. The SUV characteristics certainly play into your hands in everyday driving as a commanding driving position gives you a good view and worrying about curbs or humps are a thank of the past thanks to a good road clearance.

The X1 showcases a superb ride quality and the handling is very sharp and responsive, akin to a smaller car. It’s nippy too thanks to a choice of petrol or diesel engines that are powerful yet very economical. Furthermore you’ll get BMWs trademark high quality standard and a 5 star EuroNCAP safety rating. The X1 excels on both motorways and normal roads, and this means it’s the ideal option for travelling executives and families.

There’s an abundance of second hand BMW X1 cars available for much less of the cost here at Motors.co.uk. You really can pick up a phenomenally good deal and get one of the best premium brands for nowhere near as much. BMWs are all about quality, so what you’ll end up with is a lot of car for very little cash, so it’s quite easy to see why sales figures are through the roof!

Clearly then, the BMW X1 is small but perfectly formed. It gives you all the features of a large SUV in a package half the size, and while it might shudder at the thought of going off road, the overall practicality, incredibly high quality and impressive economy more than make up for it!
