Macclesfield

The market town of Macclesfield is located in Cheshire, has a population figure of about 51,000 and situated just on the edge of the Peak District national park as well as the Cheshire Plain. Quite a historic place to say the least, it’s most famous for silk production in the 17th and 18th centuries.

Large enough to be noted in the Domesday Book, it was made a borough in the 13th century and a market was established that can still be found today. Silk production was indeed one of the most important industries, and numerous mills were in operation. Canalised in the 19th century, a railway was also built in 1849.

These days a diverse range of sectors can be found in the town, including pharmaceuticals, engineering and plastic production. A genuine attempt to boast the cultural attraction of the area has led to festivals, art viewings, musical performances and even stage shows to be held on a regular basis. One of the most famous things however is Macclesfield Town football club.

Indeed the proximity of Macclesfield to some famous national parks and simply beautiful country locations plays into the hands of motorists wonderfully. Whether you’re looking to cruise B roads in a sporty little number or even take to the wilds in a 4x4, there’s plenty of opportunity to do it all, and more. Great motorway links mean the likes of the Yorkshire Dales, Snowdonia or even the North York Moors are reachable.

The staggering quality of used cars for sale listed here at Motors.co.uk is just one of the reasons why it’s among the most popular websites in Britain. You really can find some unbelievable bargains, and the mega reduced prices mean you can get away with paying considerably less for something totally awesome.
