The cathedral city of Hereford is also the main town of the surrounding county, Herefordshire. About 56,000 people call it home, and it’s twinned with Dillenburg in Germany, as well as Vierzon in France.

Situated north west of Gloucester, east of Wales and south west of Worcester, it is on the edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park. A Saxon capital in the 8th century, Hereford has been a religious town since the cathedral was built in the 12th century. A famous agricultural area, these days the town is known for products such as beer and cattle, but industry also makes up a significant part, particularly the production of chemicals and nickel alloys.

With a proud military history, Hereford was home to an RAF base and also an army regiment. Some other major employers include Bulmers, Cargill and Painter Brothers. With many traditions in the town, it’s easy to see why it’s a cultural centre that regularly hosts festivals and music events; for this reason it’s also benefits from much tourism.

Herefordshire in general is great for motoring because the terrain is so diverse. There’s everything from flatter farmland to hillier areas, and that means there’s something for all kinds of drivers. Whether you’re looking to simply cruise around country roads or do a bit of off roading, the area has everything.

With Motors.co.uk being among the best websites in the UK for second hand cars for sale, it’s not that difficult to pick up an incredible deal on a used car in Hereford. In fact there’s a significant selection right across the county, and including the larger places like Gloucester will definitely improve your chances of bagging a bargain. Reduced prices and an excellent standard are both elements you can look forward too.
