Stevenage

The town of Stevenage is located in Hertfordshire county and has about 82,000 inhabitants. It lies north of London, south west of Cambridge and west of Colchester, and became a New Town in 1946. With close association with ‘sister cities’ in the form of Ingelheim am Rhein in Germany and Autun in France to name a couple, there’s certainly an international outlook.

A known settlement in Roman and Saxon times, it was granted charter to hold a market in the 13th century, and really began to grow in the 1700s when it was a major stopping point for stage coaches on the Great North Road. A railway line was established in 1857 that brought further prosperity.

Designated a New Town in the Post War years, much development occurred, although the Old Town areas were left in tact. These days, the Stevenage is home to some high tech industries such as pharmaceuticals and aerospace engineering. F1 champion Lewis Hamilton was born in the town, as well as numerous other notable individuals.

The proximity of Stevenage to London means it’s a popular place for commuters, but the enveloping countryside makes it great for drivers too. Obviously there are great motorway links in the form of the A1M and M1 nearby, but pretty much all compass points except south present some form of greenery to explore. With back roads galore, you really can spend a good day out behind the wheel and have a lot of fun.

There’s no doubt that Motors.co.uk is one of the best websites to find quality used cars for sale in Stevenage because the overall selection is monumental. Over 150,000 second hand cars are listed across the UK, so you really can be confident of finding a good number in the town and also Hertfordshire as a whole. You’ll be looking at titanic price reductions as well as an impossibly high standard, and the combination makes for truly brilliant bargains.
