In 2021, another refresh was released with some significant changes to the powertrain, including a plug-in hybrid configuration and some mild styling upgrades.

Jeep wanted to appeal to a broader market beyond those looking to have off-road adventures. The obvious solution was to create a crossover that could hold a family but didn't sacrifice capability. Jeep therefore released the Compass, which was a smaller version of the popular Jeep Cherokee.
A mild refresh arrived in 2011 with some styling upgrades and improved drivetrain options. Getting rid of the previously offered round headlights, the new Compass had the lamps with a horizontal design, similar to the Grand Cherokee.
