There have been plenty of powertrain options with the A4 Avant, ranging from diesel to petrol engines, an automatic or a manual gearbox, and front- or four-wheel drive.

35 TFSI uses a 2.0-litre engine to generate 147bhp and claimed fuel economy of 42.8mpg
40 TFSI increases the output to 201bhp and still retains decent fuel economy of around 44mpg
A 40 TFSI variant also produced a lower power of 187bhp but could reach 50mpg
The 45 TFSI uses the same engine with better tuning to boost power to 241bhp, but the fuel economy falls to 35.3mpg
