A refresh in 2021 focused heavily on upgrading the infotainment system. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto became standard technology, while the cabin received an upgraded 12.3-inch digital driver's display.

The first XC60 hit the streets when Ford owned the company, so the SUV shared some engineering with the Land Rover Freelander and the Ford Mondeo.
