Mercedes AMG

Mercedes AMG is an in house tuning division that transforms already beastly cars into absolute monsters. It is to the ‘3 pointed star’ marque what M is to BMW or S-Line is to Audi: an instant indicator of power, performance and incredible engineering. There’s not much out there that can trump an AMG car, and to drive they’re at the pinnacle of motoring.

Founded in 1967 as a stand alone company, AMG was taken over by Mercedes in 1999. Some truly incredible cars have come out of its factory, and looking at the roster prompts the same reaction from most people- ‘phwoar!’ Known for aggressive designs, improved engine performance and a definite racing feel to the driving experience, these autos are almost sent from heaven.

Among the most famous offerings are the SL73 AMG, S36 AMG and AMG Hammer. However some of the modern day offerings such as the SLS are equally breathtaking to behold. Anything with the ‘Black’ designation is just eye wateringly brilliant and can make grown men cry with delight. These cars are fierce fire breathers that like nothing better than to scare the driver half to death. To be honest, they’re all amazing and out of this world, so from the C-Class, to the S-Class, the SLK to the SL, there’s a lot to choose from.

If you hadn’t already guessed, big engines are the hallmark of the brand. It can take the best Mercedes has to offer and turn it into something almost nuclear powered that’ll fly like the wind. Indeed the V8, V10 and V12 power plants are spectacular and looking that the performance figures you can’t help but think ‘this can’t be real’. Huge horsepower numbers, astronomical top speeds and 0-60mph times quicker than you could blink make AMG the last word in performance.

In all honesty, the likelihood of mere mortals being able to afford a car bearing the famous 3 letters is lower than low. Those with the cash and the bravery can get a real bargain by checking out the second hand market however. Motors.co.uk is a premier source of awesome pre owned cars for sale at guillotined prices, so finding a used Mercedes AMG car is actually very straightforward.

The bottom line is that Mercs are great cars in their own right, but they’re nothing compared to those produced by this small subsidiary. Truly mind boggling in every regard, the way they look, the way they drive and the noise they make while achieving biblical speeds is like nothing you’ve experienced before. If you want fun and fear in equal measure, getting an AMG is the obvious choice.
