Toyota IQ

Tiny city cars are all the rage these days, and few can come close to matching the Toyota IQ. It’s just sublime in every way and does everything you’d expect from an auto of this ilk. From darting through traffic to being easy to park, it’s versatile and hugely rewarding to drive. The IQ is certainly micro sized but has a big personality.

Introduced in 2008, the Toyota IQ has won legions of fans all over the world thanks to its cute and friendly demeanour, ease of use and impressive design. The IQ name comes from the term ‘intelligence quotient’, and you can see from the off that whoever designed it must have been a braniac. Packing so much into so little is the work of a genius.

The IQ looks fantastic from the outside, and the style is carried over to the inside too, with an array of premium fabrics, surfaces and quality materials. It’s by no means claustrophobic, and the ingenious 3+1 seating plan means 3 adults and 1 child can fit in there comfortably. Obviously as space is at a premium, practicality isn’t that of a regular sized car, but the Toyota does well with what is has. The boot is adequate and can be increased by putting the rear seats down.

It’s a lot of fun to drive and feels like a go kart. There’s no sacrifice in terms of the ride which is comfortable, and the handling is sharp and responsive. You could probably turn it on a 50 pence piece, which is certainly an asset in cities, but even on open country roads it more than holds its own.

Microcars won’t break the bank by any means, but shopping for used cars for sale at Motors.co.uk will allow you to get one for much less of the cost. The IQ is widely available and significant price discounts mean a bargain is always on the cards. What is the point in paying over the odds for a brand new one when a second hand Toyota IQ gives you everything for cheaper?

So what you get with the Toyota IQ is a masterpiece of design and engineering. For such a small car it’s fully loaded with all the necessary kit and is actually quite spacious inside. The IQ really is the perfect option for city dwellers, and its cost effective nature means you can enjoy the whole experience without spending a fortune on fuel. It’s the leader of the pack by far.
