Volkswagen Bora

The Volkswagen Bora is the chameleon of the automotive world in that it has many different faces that seem to continually change. Marketed around the world under 9 separate names, this small family car has lots of appeal and is kind of a bigger brother to the legendary Golf. Stylish, full of character and demonstrating all the hallmarks of the VW brand, this car is a great all rounder.

While the most modern versions are sold as the Jetta, strictly speaking the Bora nameplate refers to the fourth generation car produced between 1999 and 2005. Named after an Adriatic wind, it’s available as both a 4 door saloon and estate. The models slots into the VW roster above the Golf and below the Passat, so really it’s the best of both worlds. Full of high tech safety kit as well as improved engines and mechanics, the Bora was rather well equipped and proved quite popular as a result.

To look at it’s pretty much the same as any other Volkswagen, but that isn’t a bad thing at all. Unlike previous versions of the car, the Bora abandoned sharper designs and headed more towards flowing curves. As a result it has a friendly appearance and is considerably more approachable. The Golf derived interior is very stylish, high quality and has some intuitive controls. There’s a good amount of boot and cabin space overall, but the rear seats are probably best used for children only. Despite this it’s comfortable, refined and there’s also an adequate amount of kit as standard.

The excellent Volkswagen driving experience isn’t lost on the Bora and it’s very easy to cruise around in. Nicely balanced, the steering feels quite sharp and although it’s larger than the Golf you don’t have any less confidence. It’s composed on pretty much any type of road, which makes it ideal as a family motor, and the range of engines span economical 1.6 litre petrols and 1.9 litre diesels to sportier V6 units.

While the name situation may be confusing to some people, the fact is you can find a range of Boras, Jettas and the rest at Motors.co.uk. One of the premier second hand auto websites in the UK, high quality is teamed with substantial price discounts to provide you with some truly incredible deals. Pre owned cars for sale are renowned for being excellent bargains, and that’s exactly what you’ll get with a used Volkswagen Bora.

Ultimately the facts speak for themselves. This car is a cross between the Golf and Passat with all the best features. It’s a mid size family car that is aims to make motoring easy and stress free. A practical car on the whole, it’s easy to drive and delivers everything you’d need on a daily basis. It’s great value for money and there are loads available second hand, so take a look and surprise yourself.
