Current models offer three petrol engines, all based on the 1.2-litre three-cylinder unit, with the option to choose a five- or six-speed speed manual or eight-speed automatic gearbox. The Vauxhall Corsa-e is also an all-electric variant that's available.

Different generations of used Vauxhall Corsa

The Vauxhall Corsa was originally known as the Nova in the early 1980s, but changed names in 1993. In total, the model has been through six generations, with each offering a more modern style and upgraded features. Vauxhall has supplied many powertrains during this time, though most of them have been equipped with a manual transmission.

Sixth Generation (2019 to 2019)

The five-door hatchback shares the same underpinnings as the Citroen C3 and Peugeot 208, with a lighter weight than previous variants. Not only does the lower weight help improve efficiency, but it also reduces emissions. There's even an all-electric model with no tailpipe emissions.

The interior is modern, but minimalistic by nature. Because of the small size, the Corsa is fun to drive and easy to manoeuvre around town.

Fifth Generation (2014 to 2019)

Available as a three- or five-door hatchback, the Corsa wasn't much different from previous versions. In 2018, the VXR hot hatch was discontinued, despite having a popular fan base. It was replaced by the GSi, which, while showcasing an aggressive design, had less power.

The Corsa remained a top choice for any driver who wanted to stick to a budget but desired something stylish and well-equipped to drive around town. With so many sold, it's easy to find this generation in the used car market.

Fourth Generation (2006 to 2014)

The three- and five-door hatchback share underpinnings with the Fiat Punto. Some styling upgrades included new headlamps and an updated front end. A minor facelift in 2010 added a new touchscreen infotainment system and some stylistic modifications.

In 2007, a performance-focused VXR model was released. It included a 189-horsepower 1.6-litre turbocharged engine that took the small car to 62 mph in 7.2 seconds.
