Volkswagen has built the T-Cross with petrol and diesel engines, a manual or an automatic gearbox and front-wheel drive.

Petrol

Entry-level 1.0-litre produces 93bhp and has a decent efficiency of 49.6mpg with around 130g/km of CO2 emissions.
Output can be increased to 108bhp for a similar efficiency of up to 49.6mpg, or up to 113bhp for a reduced efficiency of up to 47.1mpg.
1.5-litre TSI Evo generates 147bhp while maintaining efficiency of up to 48.7mpg on the R Line variant.

Diesel

1.6-litre TDI – the only diesel engine available – is rated at 93bhp and has the best efficiency of up to 54.3mpg.

Practicality

The Volkswagen T-Cross may be a small SUV, but there is a large amount of space inside, making it a practical option for a busy family.

Interior space

Front seats offer numerous adjustments, including available lumbar support.
Two adults could fit comfortably in the back with a child in the middle.
ISOFIX points for installing child seats are easy to access with the wide rear doors.

Boot space

385-litre boot is only slightly less than the Skoda Kamiq and SEAT Arona.
Pushing the rear seat forward increases the space to 455 litres - a feature not offered by many competitors.

Different generations of used Volkswagen T-Cross

With the success of the Volkswagen Tiguan, the company knew that it needed to release more SUVs, which is where the Touareg and T-Roc came from.
