After a number of name changes and company mergers, Nissan Motor was founded in 1934. It started building cars at a new plant in Yokohama, before branching out to make deals with other brands in the UK and the USA.

In 1984, the Datsun name was abandoned completely and all the company’s cars were sold as Nissans, giving us the company we know today. Now, the business has a large plant in Sunderland, creating a massive number of UK jobs.
