Ford has offered diesel, petrol and hybrid engines with manual or automatic gearboxes, and front- or four-wheel drive.

Petrol

1.0-litre three-cylinder EcoBoost takes 12 seconds to reach 62mph and has a fuel economy rating of 54.3mpg.
1.5-litre EcoBoost engine creates 163bhp with a 0-62mph time of 9.2 seconds and reduces efficiency to 48.7mpg.
The plug-in hybrid variant increases output to 184bhp and has a decent petrol rating of 52.3mpg.
Larger 2.0-litre offers the most power with 237bhp, but reduces the efficiency to 38.2mpg.

Diesel

2.0-litre diesel outputs 148bhp, but is the most economical with a rating of 61.4mpg.
More powerful variant of the same motor offers 187bhp with a slightly reduced rating of 50.4mpg.
Smaller 1.5-litre diesel has a fuel economy rating of 70.6mpg, making it a top choice for low running costs.
207bhp twin-turbo model is the fastest diesel with a 0-62mph time of 8.1 seconds and fuel economy of 54.3mpg.

The Ford Mondeo has a spacious cabin and is a practical family car. With modern tech features, the newer models are even more comfortable.

Newer models have more interior room because of the longer wheelbase.
