Nissan didn't need to make a lot of updates to the Juke because of the popularity of the first generation, yet the company spent time improving the ride quality, increasing the cabin space and adding a new engine. The new Juke was roomier and larger than the first model but weighed 23kg less. This was mainly due to Nissan using high-strength steel in select places. This weight reduction aided in better handling, improved performance and enhanced fuel efficiency.

The Nissan Juke arrived with a bold, new style, which created significant demand for the crossover. Using the same platform as the Renault Captur, Nissan fitted turn signal lamps above the grille that made it look sportier. Inside the cabin, the unique centre console design reflected the shape of a motorcycle tank and saddle.
