Kia is the second largest car manufacturer in South Korea and the definition of cheap and cheerful. You get a solid product for your money and economy, affordability and reliability are all plus points. There's a diverse range of cars on offer, so if you're looking to get something decent without breaking the bank, Kia is the marque for you.
Established in 1944, the company's main focus was bicycle parts and then motorcycles. It didn't actually start producing cars until 1974 and early models included the Pride and Avella. Even back then the spirit we see today was obvious and these cars were hugely popular albeit sold under different names and brands around the world.
The company ventured into Europe in 1991 and initially sold the Pride, but the Mentor and Sportage SUV were soon added to its roster. Around the same period, it also expanded to the USA producing models including the Sephia and Spectra which were fine examples of what Korean cars were all about. Kia is now well established in both markets.
In past years Kia was happy to be the plucky foreigner in its export countries, but nowadays it's aiming high. A fundamental new design emphasis was established in 2006 to compete with higher quality marques and the results have been pleasantly surprising. What you get now are cars that are fully loaded with the latest gear, but still come in considerably cheaper than anything else.
From tiny super minis to bigger SUVs, the company has a car in pretty much every arena these days. The Forte, Soul, Optima and Cee'd (of Top Gear fame) are all excellent examples and offer something totally different to the norm, which is why they are so popular.
Despite being comparatively cheap, there's still an opportunity to save money if you buy a second hand Kia. Motors.co.uk has a grand selection to choose from and big savings mean you can always get your hands on a bargain.
If motoring on a budget is your main goal, there are no better cars for sale than Kias!
