Barretts of Canterbury Dealerships

Also known as Barretts of Kent, Barretts of Canterbury is a car dealer group with seven locations across the county of Kent. Barretts of Canterbury dealerships specialise in the sale of new and used cars from several marques and can be found in both Canterbury and Ashford.

The company supports a Motability scheme for the benefit of disabled drivers. In addition to this, Barretts offers a range of finance options and leases vehicles to business users. The group also gives drivers the option of test drives to help give them a feel for potential purchases.

The history of Barretts of Canterbury

Company founder George R Barrett started the business in Canterbury in 1902, selling cycle and motor fittings. In the 1920s, an extensive new showroom was built, selling cars under the name G R Barrett and Son. Sales steadily rose and in 1939 Barretts of Canterbury, as it was now trading under, became a private limited company.

After damages which occurred during WW2, the Barrett family had to rebuild the company site and ended up opening a huge new workshop boasting the latest modern facilities. Today, the business remains under family ownership and still operates from its original site in Canterbury.
